BIG DOG DAYCARE
*We are only accepting new submissions for dogs with previous daycare experience that are spayed or neutered. A reference from your previous daycare may be required. Please email diana@kelownapetresort.ca if you would like to schedule a first day trial for your dog or if you would like more information about our daycare program.
We offer Big Dog Daycare 5 days a week (Monday-Friday). Our large dog daycare is a great way to exercise and socialize your dog in our structured daycare group. We use our Big Dog Barn indoor arena and large outdoor play areas to romp, run, and relax. If your dog is here for a day of daycare with us they will also have rest time during the day but in a group setting. We do not encourage a full on run for the entire day and realize that dogs do need rest periods.
We accept 25 dogs on Monday and Friday and an additional 5-10 dogs mid week Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. On the days where the group size is larger (up to 35 dogs) we do have two daycare attendants supervising the group during the busy morning.
Dogs participating in our regular group daycare do need to go through the trial process prior to being accepted into our program.
The spots in our large dog daycare are limited and do need to be booked in advance. In our experience, candidates for our regular large group program are typically pulled from our dayboarding program. See details below on that program and how our safe entry into larger group play is so important to us.
We are always aware of weather elements at Kelowna Pet Resort. Indoor and outdoor time is dependant on weather and what guests we have with us each day. We want to ensure that our furry guests are kept safe, warm and happy throughout the day.

DAY BOARDING
*We are unable to accept any new submissions into our puppy program or dayboarding program. The dayboarding guests require the use of a boarding suite for the day and with the high demand for travel at this time, those suites are fully booked with overnight guests.
Dayboarding is our program in which each dog has a dedicated suite for the day and is played with in small groups throughout the day. The groups are created so that every dog will have an enjoyable and safe experience.
We mix dogs in smaller groupings based on size, temperament and age. The average number of dogs in each group is between 3-7 dogs. Sometimes we start them out with just 1-2 dogs if they require a slower introduction. We will not mix dogs at the resort until we feel they are ready to meet some new 'furiends'. We reserve the right to decline the mixing of a dog if we feel this will not be beneficial for them or the other participant.
When a dog comes for the day they will experience two separate play groups throughout the day. One group play in the morning and one in the afternoon. The average time of each play group is between 20-30 minutes. Times outside will vary dependant on extreme cold or hot weather. The time between each group they have access to our heated and air conditioned boarding suites. Every suite is equipped with water and comforts if required such as a blanket in winter months. We realize that puppies require break times with their growing bodies and as such this program has been very popular with young dogs as early as 14 weeks old. Many of the dogs that frequent our main daycare group have been selected from our dayboarding program when we feel they are ready.
*Vaccinations for DAP and Bordetella must be current and done a minimum 7-10 days prior to their first visit.
Whatever the age of the dog, dayboarding is a good introduction to the kennel environment and group play.
Not all dogs thrive in larger group settings and as such this program has many advantages for dogs that are building confidence or perhaps do not do well with larger groups or dogs.
This program has been very popular at the Kelowna Pet Resort.
The times for drop off and pick up as well as the cost per day for our dayboarding program is currently the same as our regular daycare ($31.50 including tax for the day of play).
*All bookings do need to be booked in advance as spaces are limited each week.
Please email info@kelownapetresort.ca if you would like information on how to get started in our dayboarding program.
